Golf Injuries - Specific Expert Treatment for Golfers Under Repair

Ramsay’s 7 Step Program for Golfers Under Repair

  • 1. Listen to what the golfer wants to do and identify his limitations.
  • 2. Make sure you have all the information from the golfer’s previous medical professionals.
  • 3. Communicate with these professionals as well as the golfer’s coach to build a strong blueprint for his personality, attitude and physical function. This helps to guide an integrated team around the golfer.
  • 4. Take him through a full golf-specific muscular skeletal screening which can show the relationship between the golfer’s body and swing. This is very important when defining motor pattern breakdowns.
  • 5. Give benchmarks and graduated drills on physical function and consistently relate this back to the golfer’s swing.
  • 6. Get him involved with other elite golfers to provide a forum for discussion (from experiences on their individual injuries, tournament golf or what’s happening in the golf scene, etc. As well as training these players in groups. This is essential to any leading player returning to the game after injury.
  • 7. Get a club in the golfer’s hands as soon as possible. This helps to retain his feels and allows him to graduate the loading, specific to golf practice. This should be done while working closely with a PGA professional coach and a golf biomechanist.
